Today in Western Civilization we learned about Isaogras and he became one of the main tyrants during this time period. We also learned about how different they treated women in this time period and how men had many more rights then women and how inequality was normal at this time period. There was also a man named Cleisthenenes who was a very rich member of the elites and in at this time period it was very hard to become a member of the elites and he was the person that started getting women their rights back because he saw the value in tapping into all peoples talents. There was also a ceremony called the council of five hundred and this was what it sounded like but in order to be able to participate in the council of five hundred you could not be a women and you had to be a very high class man and this allowed all citizens to submit laws and this was a new form of government where citizens could actually participate.
Today in Western Civilization we learned about Draco which meant that all Athenians were equal under the law but this did not really matter because most crimes were straight death penalty Solons was a key term that basically meant any citizen could press charges for wrong doing. Hippias was a tyrant which is a very powerful man or dictator that is evil he ruled from five twenty seven to five hundred ten BCE His brother was murdered which made Hippias basically freak out and he shunned everyone from existence because his brother was killed and after all of this he was gone. With Hippias gone lsagoras and celisthenes took his place they were now fighting to see who would be the new ruler of Athens lsagoras did win in the begging however this wasn't for long because he was also ostracized from Athens.

Today in Western Civilization we learned about Polis which was a fundamental political unit made up of a city and a surrounding country side and we also learned about a monarchy which was a place ruled by a single person. We learned about an oligarchy which is wealthy group sized power and tyrants who were people like Hitler who were cruel and powerful leaders and we also learned that the rich people in society would have all the power and all the poor and middle class people had nothing. Another thing that was different was politics it was an exclusive club and you had to be rich and a man no women no slaves and no middle class people and all of this took place in Greece which shows you how different the world was back then.

Today in Western Civilization we learned about the dorains and about how Poseidon would trick people with plants that would make you get high. The first thing that we learned was that the Dorians were far less advanced then other people during this time period and not only that the trade base economy collapsed and due to both of these things writing disappeared for four hundred years. Iliad was possibly one of the last conquests of the Trojan War. There was a discussion about a man named Homer who was so cool and had the best stories but there were people who doubted his existence. When the God Poseidon wanted to test people will he would put them on an island and get them so high that they had no right judgement which wasn't fair.

Today in Western Civilization we learned more about the Greeks and what there life is like firstly the Greek diet consists mainly of grains, grapes, olives, and fish. However the lack of natural resources led to colonization, Temperatures were around forty in the winter and eighty in the summer and now due to climate change they are a lot higher. Greeks have fought in many wars over time and the Trojan war was fought in about the twelfth or thirteenth century. The goddess Athene were given the apple of discord and while all of this was going on the trade base economy collapsed. Iliad was the last conquest of the Trojan war and there was also a book he wrote called the oddesy and there were Dorians which were referred to as as sea man and they were very powerful. In conclusion today in Western Civilization we went more in depth into what the Greeks did and how they lived their lives.

Today in Western Civilization the reading gave some basic background information about the Greek City State of Athens and a new form of government in which citizens exercised power. Athens also assumed control of a defense league and Theseus was the greatest hero of Athens and this was hard because back then Greece wasn't a united country. The terrain of Greece is very mountainous and rugged yet it is broken up into over two thousand different islands and because of this there was very little farmland which meant that Greece couldn't support a large population. We also learned bout the Egypt/ Nile River and about the fertile crescent and what that means, we also discussed the Aegean Sea, Ionian Sea, Adrivate Sea, Peloponesus, Athens, Sparta, Crete, Asia Minor, and Macedonia. The main thing to remember is that Greece is many things but they are not united, and because Greece is so small they should be well united which makes it even worse. In conclusion we learned about the deta...

The final thing that we discussed today was we discussed how long the blogs must be which is one hundred fifty to two hundred words and how if you do not do your blogs they will hurt your grade a lot because we do so many of them if you only do half of them its like getting a fifty on a really big project.
