Today in Western Civilization we learned about Draco which meant that all Athenians were equal under the law but this did not really matter because most crimes were straight death penalty Solons was a key term that basically meant any citizen could press charges for wrong doing. Hippias was a tyrant which is a very powerful man or dictator that is evil he ruled from five twenty seven to five hundred ten BCE His brother was murdered which made Hippias basically freak out and he shunned everyone from existence because his brother was killed and after all of this he was gone. Today in Western Civilization we took notes on socially the renaissance put emphasis on secular and the individually alleged church authority. politically some rulers began to challenge the church's political power. economically northern merchants resented paying church taxes to Rome. Corrupt leadership is whats wrong with the church many priests and monks were poorly educated some priests got married and had children and others drank money and gambled. The selling of indulgences releases a sinner from performing the penalty imposed for sins Johann Tetzel liked this while Martin Luther didn't Martin Luther wrote the 95 theses and an indulgence is when you would give a priest money to go straight into heaven.
