Today in Western Civilization we learned about Tarquin who seized power like an old school tyrant, his grandfather who was the fifth king died and a daughter killed her husband and sister. The terrible behavior made people never want to be subject to the rule of a king ever again and this attitude lasted for centuries. Consuls were elected officials theirs for one year which is good because if somebody is awful they are only in power for a year. Fifth-century plebeians were 98% of the population, people were refusing to serve in the military laws were written out and posted in public. The SPQR stated that any decree or law passed would be made by the SPQR finally there was a war fought between 264 and 164 BC between Rome and the Carthage.
